Non-household Water Efficiency Innovation Fund

We’re investing in businesses and non-household customers to help cut water consumption and drive sustainability.

About the fund

Innovative water-saving projects can feel like a leap – but the rewards are clear: lower bills, greater resilience, and more water left in the environment where it belongs.

This initiative is designed to:

  • remove barriers and make ideas happen
  • explore and test innovative approaches to saving water
  • generate insights that will shape our future strategy
  • encourage collaboration.

Who is eligible

The fund is open to:

  • retailers
  • water saving specialists
  • charities
  • businesses.

Project requirements

To receive funding, your project must:

  • be delivered at a site in our supply region
  • save mains water
  • save £5 or less for each litre saved per day
  • provide monthly progress updates
  • support our wider company values.

Types of projects we will support

We are mainly looking to support innovative projects. These are projects that explore new approaches to water saving or add value through fresh insights and learnings.

This could mean applying technology in a new way, using new approaches to target non-household water users, or developing a creative solution to a known challenge.

As a sector, we already have experience with standard measures, such as water-saving audits, fitting devices and routine leak repairs.

While these remain important and eligible for funding, they may not score as highly in the ‘innovation’ category because they are well-established practices.

Please don’t let this stop you from applying for funding. They still deliver significant benefits and are within the scope of this fund.
