Every Drop Counts scheme terms and conditions

For business customers

1. The incentive scheme is only open to eligible businesses that are supplied by Wessex Water and sign up by submitting an initial read no later than 21 August.

2. To be eligible for the incentive scheme, the business must have had a meter installed before 31 March 2025. The scheme excludes special agreements.

3. To qualify for the incentive scheme, business customers must provide an initial meter reading between 10 August 2026 and 21 August 2026 and a further final reading between 7 and 14 November 2026. Reads to be inputted via a webform available on our dedicated webpage.

4. Meter reads must be accompanied by contact details and clear photographic evidence of the read(s). Photographs need to be of sufficient quality to validate the read.

5. Participating businesses will be required to use at least 10% less water between August 2026 and November 2026 than they did between August 2025 and November 2025.

6. Meter readings will be used as the official measure of water consumption. Eligibility for the incentive will be based on the reduction in water usage shown by those readings.

7. Water lost through leaks, wastage, or misuse will be included in the usage calculation and will not be excluded when assessing eligibility for the incentive, unless the loss was directly caused by Wessex Water or its contractors.

8. Water usage will be calculated using a meter reading taken between 10 and 21 August 2026 and a second meter reading taken on or around 7 November 2026. Achievement of the target reduction will be assessed using the difference between these readings.

9. Qualifying businesses will receive a credit equivalent to between 5%-15% of their 2025/26 wholesale water charges ONLY (excluding sewerage charges).

10. Credit will be applied to each eligible business premise meter where the target reduction has been achieved.

11. A credit will be passed to the retailer to be applied to the business billing account.

12. Credit will be applied no later than 2 months after the final qualifying meter reading has been received from the customer.

13. Wessex Water reserves the right to exclude customers where a significant change in occupancy, site use, business activity, operating hours or another exceptional circumstance makes a comparison with the previous year's consumption inappropriate.

For retailers

1. Retailers are only eligible for an incentive payment where the customer successfully completes the Every Drop Counts scheme and achieves at least a 10% reduction in water consumption following the retailer application.

2. The retailer must be the registered retailer for the premises at the point of customer enrolment.

3. Only one retailer incentive payment will be made per eligible premises/SPID.

4. No payment will be made where the customer fails to meet the scheme eligibility criteria, submit required meter readings, or achieve the qualifying reduction target.

5. Retailer incentive payments will be made within 60 days of Wessex Water confirming a customer has met the eligibility criteria for reward.

6. Wessex Water reserves the right to verify claims, withhold payments where eligibility requirements have not been met, and recover any payments made in error.

7. Wessex Water reserves the right to amend, suspend or withdraw the scheme at any time.
